Middle Grades
Students in grades five
through eight share a multi-level, standards based classroom experience where proficiency in a learning target is the goal.
Each day begins with worship and a morning walk around the perimeter of campus. The core subjects in the middle school program include Religion, English, Math, Science and Social Studies Experiential units with thematic group projects keep the classroom environment dynamic and creative. Courses are enriched with local field trips and school-wide fairs.
One of the favorite programs for students has been the Personal Finance year-long interactive simulation. The classroom environment has its own city thriving in the simulation throughout the year as students are taught key financial skills by pairing together Next Gen Personal Finance and the opportunity to experience their own real life consequences as they apply what they are learning. Students are also engaged in learning more about how to be stewards of the land through the new garden/agricultural program introduced by our 5th-8th teacher, Hope Yeagley. In addition, as the program is being established, they are experiencing the opportunity to learn what it takes to plan and fund for a garden program, such as their student run plant sale fundraiser.
